Pingtung, TAIWAN
The Free Methodist Church in Pingtung, Taiwan was initiated by the Red Cross during post Morakot Typhoon's catastrophic disaster at 2009 summer. The aftermath resulted hundreds of native villages destroyed and thousands of family wondering for relocation.
A collaborative design challenge between our Taipei & New York Office was approached by the Red Cross to re-built two new villages along with their communities central belief for embracing the new habitat.
Due to the limited budget, we've evaluated of adopting the micro climate condition of wind circulation through cascading fenestration to eliminate HVAC. Also, by having the sunshade louvers orchestrated from preserved wood panels which were secured from their destroyed villages that the local families had carved their history on.
